Y’know, I actually kind of like that name for the girl. You may live another day, Chuck. Actually, whenever I have a conversation about common sense the gender that gives me that response is about 90% female. They come into the conversation with that thinking they are the wittiest spoon at the Ren fair. However, when they say that it is attempt to take creative control of the conversation, No, honey. That is not clever. In fact, by saying it, all you will get is the look that says, “you fucking dumb ass” from everyone surrounding. We all know that statement. We will always know that statement. It is not original and I, personally, will never buy that it is. That is seriously one of my biggest peeves. I will never respond with, “thank god you came along and said that! Now I can put all of this into perspective and thusly, with your generous help, make a serious change in not only this state, this country, but possibly the world! Thank you! Have some money, booze and my undying affection. You, madam. You are the scion to a new world of prosperity and hope.” Seriously, go back in the corner. Do another line. Fuck a local idiot. I don’t care. Your urbane wit does absolutely nothing for me. I know I have my shortcomings and I’m whining about this in a bar but I’m in a bar to get the story out and possibly, depending on my surroundings, gain a quick-fix answer and get drunk quickly to forget it. Unfortunately, when I usually have this discussion it’s in a moderately sober environment. So having a liberal arts college mentality does not, in fact rarely, mean you are a liberal guru with the answers. Yeah, it sucks in Tibet. How is getting high and griping about it helping? Just donate the 5 bucks in the drop box and take a damn shower. Nobody is buying you’re a white Rastafarian. OR that since you have a job and writing poetry in you matching black leisure suit you are the penultimate in anything.
